Definition

The simple future is a verb tense that's used to talk about things that haven't happened yet. 


Formation


Use

We use the future simple when:

  • we express future actions decided at the moment of speaking.
    I'll have salad now.
  • we express a prediction based on personal opinions or experiences (predictions without evidence)
    I think United will win the game.
  • we talk about a future fact.
    The sun will rise tomorrow.
  • we talk about an offer.
    I promise I won't tell anyone you broke the glass.
  • we make a threat.
    I'll tell your parents what you did.
  • we refuse something.
    No,I will not cook your dinner, you can cook it yourself.

Definition

The future continuous is to talk about a future period and to say that the action will be going on for some time.

Formation


Use

We use the future continuous to talk about a future period, saying that the action will be going on for some time.

Examples:

  • We will be staying in a luxurious hotel.
  • They will be interrogating the suspect for hours.
